Stormé DeLarverie
Activist; Entertainer
Stormé DeLarverie (1920–2014) was a New Orleans-born entertainer and activist whose scuffle with police during the 1969 Stonewall Inn raid is credited by DeLarverie and many eyewitnesses as the uprising’s spark. She toured as MC and the only drag king of the Jewel Box Revue and later patrolled Greenwich Village as the self-described guardian of lesbians.
