Kerri Garrett’s short film A Westside Love Story had its Southeast U.S. premiere at the 39th Out On Film Festival in October 2026, screening in the Queer Georgia Peaches program with backing from the festival’s Filmmaker Fund.

Garrett is an Atlanta filmmaker working outside the studio system. Through her company House of Productions, she makes narrative films about Black life through queer perspectives. She has said independent filmmakers don’t need to wait for permission to create the worlds they want to see.
