Folk artist, producer, and composer Makenna Lyric released her second album, Carve It On Every Stone, in March 2026.
A Black lesbian artist, Lyric rooted her debut album, Leap!, in her journey toward self-discovery and the rejection of societal expectations. Carve It On Every Stone builds on those themes, examining personal transformation, resilience, and the act of returning to oneself.
Beyond her music, Lyric is involved with the Black Lesbian Journal Club, a community with chapters in Atlanta and New York City that fosters dedicated in-person spaces for writing and creative expression. Through both her creative work and community involvement, she continues to advocate for greater Black lesbian representation and visibility across music and media.
